Social Media Marketing Techniques

There are a number of social media marketing techniques that can be used to help promote your game on certain social media channels. These channels include Facebook, Discord, Instagram or Discord. One social media marketing technique is to use hashtags (on Twitter and Instagram) and tags on other social media sites. This will allow your social media posts to reach a larger audience as if the hashtag is relevant and your post is fairly popular then your post will come up when the person searches in the search results. This is particularly useful to reach users that are not yet following your social media page. (How to Use Hashtags: A Quick and Simple Guide for Every Network, 2021).

Another social media marketing technique that can be used to promote your game is through viral marketing. This is when users keep on sharing your content and it becomes popular. This can happen for example with music videos on YouTube if they are promoted well or if the artist is already well known. Although this technique does fall into the users hands to control the market and popularity of the video. It can also be helpful as it can be shared on other social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram etc. and become word of mouth.  (Fraile, 2021).

Another social media marketing technique that can be used to promote your game is your social media page is visually appealing to the user that is looking at your social media page. This can include having a profile pic, a banner and a detailed but snappy description. This will show to users that care has been taken to ensure the social media page is well looked after. (www.designtec.co.uk, 2021).
